About this artwork

In "Orphan," we are presented with a scene replete with intrigue and unspoken words. A girl is seen whispering secrets into the ear of a boy, whose face is hidden from us. Her gaze is laden with depth and a subtle sense of foreboding, as if she’s imparting knowledge that will transform them both. The dark hues engulf their figures, accentuating an atmosphere of mystery and half-truths.

The darkness that envelops the silhouettes seems to symbolize the absence and loss conveyed by the painting's title. There is emotional tension in every line, in every shade, yet there is also beauty in the moment when one finds solace and understanding in another. This artwork speaks to the eternal need for connection, of how a solitary soul seeks and finds echoes of itself in another being.
